zum bestehenden bau eine neue städtische struktur zwischenbahnhof und stadtzentrum geschaffen. das vorhandene bau-grundstück zwischen grabenweg und bahnhofstraße wird durchzwei dynamisch geknickte, sichelförmige baukörper als quartier entlang der außengrenzen umhüllt.

durch die teils schwebende ausführung der baukörper unddas offen gehaltene zentrum des neuen quartiers entsteht ein mehrfach durchlässiger außenraum zwischen den baukörpern als neuer öffentlich-städtischer freiraum.

die gebäudehülle und die großflächigen wandelemente der be-reiche gastronomie und veranstaltungsraum bilden als grund-layout in anlehnung an den fluss der raumelemente einen dy-namisch linearen strichcode aus.

by adding on to the extant building, the »wifi campus« project creates a new urban structure between the railway station and the city center. tracing the border of the building site between grabenweg and bahnhofsstraße, the campus is formed by two dynamically bent, sickle-shaped building volumes.

executed in part as floating building volumes and left open at the center, the permeable exterior space between the building volumes of the new campus gives rise to a new public-urban open area.

in allusion to the dynamics of the spatial elements, the ba-sic design pattern of a dynamic linear barcode runs along the building shell and the expansive wall elements in the restau-rant and function room.

als großzügige eingangsgeste zum quartier fungiert derzweigeschossige freiraum, der vom baukörper entlang der bahnhofstraße als portal umschlossen wird. dieser »portal-bereich« wird öffentlich als gastgarten genutzt und verteilt als zentrum die besucher zu den eingängen wifi, gastronomieund mietpartner.

on the bahnhofstraße side, a two-story open space enclosed by the building volume creates a generous entry gesture that leads into the complex. this »portal area«serves as an outdoor café and as a central hub that directs visitors to the wifi, restaurant, and tenant-partner entrances.

die außenräume folgen in ihrer oberfläche dem faltungs-prinizip der baukörper und machen so den offenen raumzwischen den bauten aufunterschiedlichsten ebenenerlebbar.

in their folded surface, the exterior spaces trace the folded principle of the build-ing volumes and in this way allow the user to perceive and experience the open spaces between the buildings on dif-ferent levels.

der städtebaulichen raumverschränkungen.im zentrum steht die veranstaltungshalle und diezweigeschossige gastronomie. durch übergängevon ein-, eineinhalb- und zweigeschossigen raum-körpern auf unterschied-lichen ebenen wird derinnen- und außenraum von jedem blickwinkel aus mehrfach erlebbar.die inneren raumzusammenhänge erschließen sich dem betrachter gesamtheitlich.

the inside of the complex echoes the folded design of the structure in its urban planning context. at the center are the function room and the two-story restaurant. the transitions of one-and-a-half and two-story spatial volumes on dif-ferent levels let the user experience interior and exterior spaces from multiple angles, affording an overall impression of coherency of the interior spaces.

analog zur einrahmungsgeste des »portals« wird das gesamte volumen des zentralengastronomiebereiches von einem raumgreifenden decken-wand-sitzelement eingefasst.

analogous to the framing gesture of the »portal«, the entire volume of the centrally located restaurant area is enclosed by a vast ceiling-and-wall encompassing seating element.
