The Pastor’s Corner
Submitted by Leonard Markham
This is a historic time in the life of our church. God has used you to build a new church facility and a new place for worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism and recreation. There were a lot of people who said it couldn’t be done. But you believed that goals should not be set on who we think we are or what we can do but who we think God is and what He can do.
For over forty years we have prayed, sacrificed, waited, searched, negotiated, waited, prayed, given, and waited and waited some more. Now God has given us a beautiful piece of property visible to everyone coming to Fairfield Glade with a beautiful building for people to come to worship God.
Why did it take so long and why so many delays? I believe God was getting us ready. I believe God was bringing people to our church and removing people from our church so that we would be united in purpose and so in love with Jesus Christ and in love with each other. I do not believe God is looking down from heaven this morning (August 26) and saying, “Wow! Look at all those buildings.” He isn’t saying, “Look at that piece of property and parking lot.” I believe God is saying, “Wow! Look what happened to my people during that building process.” God is far more interested in building you than He is in building buildings. A church is people, not buildings. God has been building a church here for over forty years. Now we have another house to locate God’s church in Fairfield Glade.
The fact is, God uses people. II Chronicles 16:9 states, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” The Bible says God is looking for people to use. He is wait-ing to use you in a significant way to make an impact on your part of the world. I truly believe God brought Reggie, Grant, Lori, Katie, Joan and each of you to the Glade to accomplish God’s purpose for His church. I believe God found a group of people in Cumberland County who had perfect hearts, who said, “We want God’s glory more than anything else” and who believed Him for the impos-sible.
A lot of time over the last six years where people have heard about what our church was attempting to do, they would say things like, “This can’t be done. It’s impossible. This is Fairfield Glade. This is a retirement community. You can’t buy that much land in Fairfield and you certainly can’t pay for it. God did buy land near Fairfield Glade and God did pay for it. “To God Be the Glory!”
People would say to me, “Who do you think you are?” My answer has always been the same. This is the wrong question. The question is not “Who do we think we are?” It’s, “Who do you think God is?” He is a Big God and a Great God, and our God is not broke.
I love each of you. As we enter this ‘Celebration of God’s Faithfulness’, we do so with humility, thanksgiving and an incredible sense that God has used us to do something of great significance for His Honor and Glory.
The Messenger

The Campaign Commitment Team…
His vision, Our mission...
Submitted by: Randy & Annette Johnson
GOD is so good...we had the best month of giving ever during this campaign. Our giv-ing in July came to $48,941.09! Our year-to-date total is $465,253.21. Praise God for his abundant gifts. We continue to be amazed at the generosity and outpouring of love and commitment our church family shows. Our family continues to grow along with our financial giving. In Luke 6:38 (NIV) it says "Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." We have certainly proven time and time again that we as a family are committed to our giving. We've been on this journey for over a year now and we are finally in our new build-ing. We need to pray for Spiritual guidance as we continue the building fund cam-paign. We know with all of us working and praying together we will be able to ac-complish His Vision...Our Mission. We are giving from the heart for God's glory. Your commitment team members are Roger & Janie Fleming, Joe & Christina Boggio, Bob & Deb Carlson and Randy & Annette Johnson.

Brotherhood…. Submitted by Randy Johnson
Hello to everyone and welcome back to the Brotherhood Breakfast. I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. Our next breakfast will be held on Saturday, September 8, at 7:30 am. Our guest speaker will be Sheri Nichols who is the director of the Plateau Pregnancy Center. I am very excited to have her come and speak to us and she does a great job of motivating people to community action and service. She also provides creative resources for men and women of Cumberland County. I want to thank everyone who volunteered and helped with the move to the new church. I especially want to thank Phil Gover, Larry Kringel and Dick Schroeder, I could not have done the move without their help. We are so excited to have our first Brotherhood Breakfast in the new church building. I look forward to seeing everyone there. Remember to live life to the fullest praising God along the way.

well as Bailey Bryant, Viera Milford and Shelby Hale (Ed & Barbara Dowdy's great-grand-
daughter) were baptized.

by the ladies of the "Piece Corps".
To date during the calendar year 2012, 20 were baptized. Please pray for these young Christians
as they grow in Christ.
PRAYER WARRIORS
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
(James 5:16) NKJV
Our Lord has commanded us in Colossians 4:2 NKJV, to continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it
with thanksgiving. The Bible frequently tells us of the many times Jesus prayed (Matthew 14:23, Matthew
26:36, Mark 1:35, Mark 6:41, Luke 6:12, Luke 9:16, John 11:41 and John 17:1).
Please join us as often as you are able. We seek a closer relationship with the Lord, and pray for our families,
friends, neighbors, church, country and whatever concerns the Lord places upon your heart. We pray simply
and honestly and welcome everyone to join us for an hour of power as we continue to Celebrate God’s
Faithfulness in our new Worship Center.
The Prayer Warriors meet every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 am

Peavine Care Center... Submitted by Pat Harris
People have asked me what is the Peavine Care Center? This is a food pantry that sup-
plies “food for the table and food for the soul.”
It distributes food to the pre-registered, qualified, below poverty level, people who live
along the Peavine Road corridor from Rt. 40 north. The distribution of food and sup-
plies takes place once a week on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM. The distribution is pro-
ceeded by an hour of devotions and gospel singing.
Our church’s main contribution to this ministry is donations of needed supplies that can
not be purchased thru “Second Harvest.“ Items needed are:
Diapers, baby and adult, Paper towels, Boxes of tissues, Toilet paper
Cleaning supplies in smaller containers
Volunteers can be used in various positions.
For more information contact Kathy Salyer 459-2244 or Pat Harris 707-0539.

Hodges Ministry... Submitted by Pat Harris
We just got back from the August trip to Hodges. We brought 757 pounds of repaired
Bibles, Sunday school books and other Christian literature along with eight volunteers.
It was an extra special trip because we had the blessing of a container that started its
journey from Hodges to the Savannah, GA port where it will be loaded unto a ship
headed to Faisalabada, Pakistan. The container was 43,753 pounds of Bibles. Chris-
tian literature and a printing press, that prints in the language of Urdu. Hodges had al-
ready had the Book of John translated into Urdu, printed and bound and shipped to Pakistan.
Pakistan has one of the fastest growing percents of Christians in that part of the world. This shipment along
with the printing press should help that growth. For those that don’t know, Hodges Ministry collects Bibles
and other Christian literature to send to missionaries all over the world. Our part starts with the box in the
hallway where we put our old Sunday school books, devotionals and other materials. FFG FBC sends volun-
teers in the church bus to Decatur, Alabama several times a year.. We sort and pack literature. Sit down jobs
are also available. It’s a way to serve the Lord, by helping to spread the Good News. Please try it once.
You may be surprised how it grabs your heart.
Our next trip is scheduled for October 18, 19 and 20.. The sign up sheet is on the front foyer.
For more information call Pat Harris 707-0539.
