Das Konzept der WorldSkills
entstand in den 50er Jahren
und hatte zum Ziel, auf inter-
nationaler Ebene einen Leis-
tungsvergleich zu ermöglichen
und das Miteinander verschie-
dener Nationen und Kulturen
zu fördern.
2005 treten in Helsinki die
besten 800 Auszubildenden
aus 40 Ländern in mehr als
40 Berufen zum Wettbewerb
an.
Dabei werden Gold-, Silber
und Bronzemedaillen für
die besten Arbeiten in jedem
Beruf vergeben – für den
besten Dreher, Fräser, Koch,
EDV-Spezialisten ... und das
weltbeste Mechatronik Team.
The meeting place for young
professionals from all over the
world
The concept of the WorldSkills
Competition emerged more
than 50 years ago:
To promote the comparison of
performance at an international
level and to support internatio-
nal understanding.
In Helsinki 2005, more than
800 of the best professionals
from 40 nations are competing
in more than 40 trades.
Gold, silver and bronze medals
are awarded for the best work
in each trade – for the world’s
best lathe operator, milling
cutter, chef, IT technician … and
the world’s best Mechatronics
team.
Der Treffpunkt für junge
Fachkräfte aus aller Welt
Auf der WorldSkills steht
Mechatronik für industrielle
Mechatronik.
Sie verbindet nicht nur Mecha-
nik, Elektronik und Informatik
in der Automatisierungstech-
nik, sie steht auch für indivi-
duelle Kompetenz und Team-
fähigkeit. Themen, die von der
Industrie gefordert werden, um
außergewöhnliche Leistungen
erbringen zu können.
Der Mechatronik Wettbewerb
spiegelt die tägliche Arbeit an
der Maschine wieder – unter
Zeitdruck Lösungen erarbeiten
und implementieren, die Pro-
duktion aufrecht halten und
kontinuierlich optimieren –
und Maschinen nach einem
Stillstand so schnell wie mög-
lich wieder in Betrieb nehmen.
Mechatronics at WorldSkills
At the WorldSkills Competition,
mechatronics means industrial
mechatronics.
This is not simply a combina-
tion of the mechanical, electro-
nic and IT aspects of automa-
tion, but also demands the per-
sonal and team skills that indu-
stry needs to achieve world-
class standards of excellence.
The mechatronics competition
reflects reality on the shop-
floor – people working under
pressure to design and imple-
ment solutions and to maintain
and constantly improve pro-
duction. And to fix machines
quickly when faults occur.

Mechatronics
Während die Industrie es von
jedem einzelnen Mitarbeiter
verlangt, die vielschichtigen
Aufgaben des Mechatronikers
zu beherrschen, wird ebenso
anerkannt, dass jede einzelne
Person individuelle Stärken
und Schwächen hat – und
dass Menschen nur im Team,
im ständigen gegenseitigen
Lernen voneinander, die
Herausforderungen der ferti-
genden Industrie erfüllen kön-
nen.
Der Wettbewerb zeigt, wie
diese wichtigen individuellen
Kompetenzen und Qualitäten
im Team erfolgreich umgesetzt
und verbessert werden können.
Why a team of two?
While industry requires that
each individual master the dif-
ferent facets of mechatronics,
it also recognizes that everyone
has their own strengths and
weaknesses and that only
people working in a team –
constantly learning from each
other – can master the challen-
ges of Manufacturing Excel-
lence.
The competition shows how
essential personal skills and
qualities – vital for teamwork –
can be improved.

Begabung fördern-
Begeisterung wecken
Junge Menschen für technische
Berufe zu begeistern und in der
Ausbildung zu fördern, gehört
seit Jahrzehnten zu einer Kern-
aufgabe von Festo.
Festo Didactic unterstützt den
Mechatronik Wettbewerb daher
seit Beginn der Mechatronik
Wettbewerbe im Jahre 1991.
Als offizieller Lieferant des
Wettbewerbsequipments und
Organisator dieser Disziplin.
Der Bildungsbedarf und die
Anforderungen an Ausbildungs-
methoden werden steigen. In-
novative Modelle sind gefragt,
um einen Einblick in Ausbil-
dungssysteme und -methoden
verschiedenster Länder zu
gewinnen, Vergleiche zu ziehen
und neue, wertvolle Impulse
zu erwerben um diese in Best
Practices umzusetzen.
Die Berufsweltmeisterschaften
bieten ein solches internatio-
nales Forum und fördern höch-
stes Niveau. Denn erst mit dem
Willen, außergewöhnliche
Leistungen zu bringen, wird
Qualität möglich. Die Ausschei-
dungen bieten Anreize für den
Nachwuchs, sein Können zu
zeigen und in praxisnahen Auf-
gaben unter Beweis zu stellen.
Promoting talent –
rousing enthusiasm
Rousing young people’s enthu-
siasm or careers in technology
and the promotion of training
have been core activities of
Festo for decades.
For this reason, Festo Didactic
has supported the Mechatro-
nics Competition since its
inception in 1991 – as official
supplier of competition equip-
ment and organizer of the
Mechatronics discipline.
As the need for training increa-
ses, so does the demand for
greater sophistication of trai-
ning methods. Innovative
models are needed to gain an
insight into training methods
and systems in various coun-
tries, make comparisons, get
new stimuli, and convert all
this into Best Practices.
The WorldSkills competition
offers an international forum
promoting peak levels of achie-
vement – because quality only
becomes possible when there
is a will to achieve exceptional
performance. The elimination
contest gives talented young
people from all over the world
an incentive to demonstrate
their capabilities in practice-
related tasks.

1991 wurde der Mechatronik-
Wettbewerb erstmals durchge-
führt, mit 2 Teilnehmerländern.
Heute ist Mechatronik einer
der größten Ausbildungsberufe
anlässlich der WorldSkills, an
der inzwischen 28 Nationen
teilnehmen.
Participating nations in
Mechatronics Competition
The Mechatronics Competition
was first held in 1991 with just
two countries participating.
Today, Mechatronics is one of
the biggest trades represented
in the WorldSkills Competition,
with 28 nations taking part.

Mit dem Modularen Produk-
tions-System lassen sich indu-
strielle automatisierte Anlagen
in unterschiedlicher Komplexi-
tät nachbilden.
Praxis- und industrienah
Planung, Montage, Program-
mierung, Inbetriebnahme,
Betrieb, Wartung und Fehler-
suche an Produktionsanlagen
können mit MPS® in unter-
schiedlichen Komplexitäts-
graden vermittelt werden:
