Market Outlook: What We Are Seeing TodayCloud, nearly everywhere, while providers offer a variety of solutions, contracting is still a challenge.

It’s big and broad, and covers infrastructure, development platforms and packaged software. Apps and infrastructure are converging.
Evaluating and contracting for dedicated cloud looks a lot like a traditional process – it’s a technology evolution. Evaluating and contracting for shared cloud looks very different than the traditional approach – it’s a technology revolution as services, technology and contracts are highly standardized.
Cloud infrastructure buyers are buying IaaS alongside traditional infrastructure (both outsourced and in-house) and it’s being done in small chunks outside IT & procurement, mainly to speed up business directly.
Be it shared platform like AWS or just re-branded single-instance software being sold as SaaS. Almost everything is branded as cloud today.
Standardization of the platform includes standardization of services, SLAs, terms and pricing, all of which generally favor the provider.
Cloud has expanded into nearly every enterprise technology, vertical and horizontal
Evolution vs. Revolution
Hybrid will be the norm for many years to come
Nearly every provider has some sort of cloud offering

Hints & Tricks
Topics to think about BEFORE
migration!
Online or offline migration of VMs?
Re-IP of VMs or stretch network into Cloud?
vMotion, offline replication or shipping NAS device?
How much capacity do I need at which site?
Do I need my setup to be high available?
• Is downtime an option?
• NSX / ByoIP / movment of VMs between sites
• Bandwidth between sites
• Sizes of VMs
• Total amount of storage
• Migrating VM by VM or all at ones?
• Space for … DR? Maintenance? Dev & Test?
• Do I need to scale up and down often?
• RPO / RTO
• What tool / feature to chose for DR (and which for backup)

The new Norm - “Software Defined Everything”
Storage is Software defined (SDS) and shortly dominates the IT
industry; Data Centers become data fabrics enabling object
storage in clouds eventually.
Storage becomes a Utility (SaaU) whereby Storage itself is
based on ‘Flash arrays’ only, cost have dropped rapidly.
Software Defined Data Centers are the backbone of Cloudification
‘Blade-Server’ Computing is virtualized
and based on hyper-coverged,
monolithic blocks which behave like
Software defined racks.
Network, the Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) will
enable analytic data mining business capabilities trough
SDN & NFV accessibility.
➢ Scalability, Performance, Flexibility and the Ability to lower cost while operating more efficient
Tape may remain for regulatory
constrains
Disks are now used for Backup
&Recovery and archives.
