1. Répertoire international des sources musicales — International Inventory of Musical

Sources — Internationales Quellen-Lexikon der Musik.

Les premiers volumes du Répertoire international des sources musicales étant actuellement

dans le dernier stade de compilation, le 4me Congrès international des bibliothèques musi

cales insiste auprès de tous les pays qui ne l'auraient pas encore fait, d'envoyer le plus

rapidement possible le relevé de leurs fonds en matière de recueils de musique imprimée du

16e et du 17e siècles, afin d'obtenir une plus grande perfection du Répertoire et afin d'assurer

une plus grande utilité de celui-ci pour chaque pays lorsque ses fonds en cette matière seront

entièrement et complètement enregistrés.

With the first volumes of the International Inventory of Musical Sources entering their

final stages of compilation, the 4th International Congress of Music Libraries urges all coun

tries which have not already sent in an account of their holdings of 16th and 17th century

anthologies of printed music to do so as soon as possible for the greater perfection of the

Inventory and for the greater usefulness to each country when its holdings are fully recorded.

Da die ersten Bände des Répertoire international des sources musicales vor dem Abschluß

stehen, bittet der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken aller Länder, die noch kein

Verzeichnis der in ihrem Besitz befindlichen Musikdrucke aus dem 16. und 17. Jahrhundert

eingesandt haben, dies umgehend zu tun, damit eine größere Vollständigkeit des Répertoire und ein größerer Nutzen für jedes Land, dessen Quellenmaterial vollständig registriert ist,

erreiht wird.

2. Formation professionnelle de bibliothécaires musicaux — Professional training of Music

Librarians — Berufsbildung der Musikbibliothekare.

Le 4me Congrès international des Bibliothèques musicales souhaite:

a) que les postes de bibliothécaires musicaux, quels qu'ils soient, soient réservés uniquement aux bibliothécaires spécialement formés à cette fin;

b) qu'un enseignement adapté à la spécialisation de ces bibliothécaires soit instituté;

c) que de nouveaux postes de bibliothécaires musicaux soient créés dans les bibliothèques

possédant des fonds musicaux importants non confiés à des bibliothécaires spécialisés:

d) que la plus large information au sujet de ces nouveaux postes soit diffusée;

e) que, au sein de l'A. I. B. M., soit établie une commission hargée de l'examen de ces

questions et de l'établissement des lignes générales pour la formation de bibliothécaires

musicaux.

Deux types d'enseignement pourraient être envisagés : — pour des musiciens et des musicologues en vue de leur formation tehnique de biblo

thécaire; — pour des bibliothécaires en vue de leur formation musicale et musicologique spéciale.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries expresses its earnest wish:

a) that the posts of musical librarians of whatever kind, be reserved for librarians specially trained for that purpose;

b) that a training suited for the specialization of those librarians be instituted;

c) that new posts of musical librarians be created in the libraries with important musical

collections not entrusted to specialized librarians;

d) that those new posts should be publicized as widely as possible;

e) that within I. A. M. L. be instituted a commission charged with the study of those

questions and of the determination of the main principles for the training of musical

librarians.

Two kinds of training should be considered:

— for musicians and musicologists with the view to their technical training as librarians:

— for librarians with a view to their specialized musical and musicological training.

Der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken bittet, daß

a) sämtliche Stellen für Musikbibliothekare nur mit wirklichen Fachkräften besetzt werden;

b) eine Lehrstätte zur Heranbildung solcher Bibliothekare eingerichtet wird;

c) an Bibliotheken mit bedeutenden musikalischen Sammlungen, die nicht von Fachkräf

ten betreut werden, neue Stellen für ausgebildete Musikbibliothekare geschaffen werden;

d) die Einrichtung dieser neuen Stellen möglichst weiten Kreisen bekannt gemacht wird;

e) innerhalb der A. 1. B. M. eine Kommission gebildet wird, die sich mit diesen Fragen und

mit der Ausarbeitung der Grundzüge eines Lehrplans für Musikbibliothekare beschäftigt.

Dabei müßten zwei Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten vorgesehen werden:

— für Musiker und Musikwissenschaftler, die als Bibliothekare ausgebildet werden; — für Bibliothekare, die sich speziell mit Musik und Musikwissenschaft beschäftigen.

3. Echanges internationaux de musique — International Music Exchanges — Internationaler

Musikalienaustausch.

Le 4me Congrès international des Bibliothèques musicales décide qu'une liste de biblio

thèques désirant participer aux échanges sera publiée dans Fontes artis musicae. Les biblio

thèques indiqueront le genre d'ouvrages qu'elles peuvent échanger.

L'Association envisagera ensuite si la création d'un secrétariat spécial pour la coordination

et l'extension de ces échanges est réalisable.

Il décide aussi de demander aux gouvernements des pays où les échanges ne sont pas offi

ciellement autorisés, d'accorder le droit à participer à de tels échanges. Il souhaite que

l'UNESCO et le Conseil international de la Musique appuient cette proposition.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries resolves that a list of libraries wishing

to take part in exchanges should be published in Fontes artis musicae. The libraries would

indicate the kind of works which they are able to exchange.

The Association would then see whether the setting up of a special secretariat to co-ordi

nate and extend these exchanges is practicable.

It resolves also to ask the governments, in countries where exchanges are not officially

authorised, to give formal permission for participation in such exchanges. It desires that

UNESCO and the International Music Council should support that proposal.

Der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliothek hat beschlossen, daß in den Fontes

artis musicae eine Liste der Bibliotheken veröffentlicht wird, die an einem Austausch teil

nehmen wollen. Die Bibliotheken geben ihre Tauschmöglichkeiten an.

Die Internationale Vereinigung der Musikbibliotheken wird dann entscheiden, ob ein

spezielles Sekretariat zur Regelung dieses Austausches eingerichtet werden soll.

Der Kongreß beschließt ferner, die Regierungen der Länder, in denen ein Austausch offi

ziell nicht gestattet ist, zu bitten, die formelle Erlaubnis zur Teilnahme an solchen Tausch

aktionen zu erteilen. Er hofft, daß die UNESCO und der Internationale Musikrat diesen

Vorschlag unterstützen werden.

4. Inventaire des matériels d'exécution rares — Catalogue of scarce material — Katalog

seltener Aufführungsmateriale. Le 4me Congrès international des Bibliothèques musicales émet le voeu que soit développé

le travail d'inventaire des matériels d'exécution rares entrepris par la Commission des

bibliothèques musicales de la radiodiffusion. A cette fin, il souhaite que cette Commission

fasse des démarches auprès de l'Union Européenne de Radiodiffusion pour obtenir son soutien.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries desires that the Committee of Radio

Libraries should develop its catalog of scarce material. To this end, the Congress wishes that

this Committee should request the help of the European Broadcasting Union.

Der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken wünscht, daß die Arbeit an dem

Katalog seltener Aufführungsmateriale, den die Kommission der Musikbibliotheken der

Rundfunkstationen zusammenstellt, fortschreitet. Um dies zu erreichen, empfiehlt er der

Kommission, sich an die Union Européenne de Radiodiffusion fÜT Unterstützung zu wenden.

5. Liste internationale de phonothèques productrices de disques non commerciaux —

International list of Record Libraries issuing non-commercial recordings — Internationales

Verzeichnis von Schall-Archiven, die nicht für den Handel bestimmte Schallplatten und Ton

träger herstellen.

Au nom de la Commission internationale des Phonothèques, le 4me Congrès international

des Bibliothèques musicales décide de dresser une liste annotée aussi complète que possible de toutes les institutions et organisations productrices de disques non commerciaux. Cette

liste sera accompagnée, là où cela s'avère possible, d'une bibliographie de catalogues publiés

par chacune de ces institutions.

On étudierait également la possibilité de dresser et de publier un catalogue collectif des

plus importants enregistrements que ces associations et institutions possèdent.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries resolves, on behalf of the working Com

mittee of Record Libraries, to make an annotated list, as complete as possible, of all insti tutions and organizations that issue non-commercial recordings. Wherever possible, this list will include a bibliography of catalogues issued by each institution.

It should consider whether there can be prepared and published a joint catalogue of the most important items owned by these institutions and organizations.

Im Namen des internationalen Arbeitsausschusses für Phonotheken hat der 4. Inter nationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken beschlossen, eine kommentierte und möglichst vollständige Liste aller Einrichtungen und Organisationen anzulegen, die nicht im Handel befindliche Tonträger herstellen. Wenn möglich, soll dieses Verzeichnis eine Bibliographie der

Kataloge enthalten die jede Institution herausgibt. Unter Umständen soll ein Katalog der wichtigsten Titel dieser Einrichtungen und Organi

sationen zusammengestellt und veröffentlicht werden.

avec les compagnies productrices, ou par l'intermédiare des organisations nationales de pro ducteurs de disques, ces étiquettes soient améliorées. Une campagne de presse devrait appuyer ce souhait.

Since many record manufacturers fail to describe their products accurately on the label

of the disc, the 4th International Congress of Music Libraries resolves to secure improvement

by all means in its power, either by direct approach to the companies individually or to

national organizations of record manufacturers, or by propaganda in the public press.

Da die Etiketten vieler Schallplattenfirmen weder vollständig nodi genau sind, bittet der

4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken, entweder direkt oder über die nationalen

Vereinigungen der Schallplattenproduzenten eine Verbesserung dieser Etiketten zu erreichen.

Ein Presse-Feldzug könnte diese Bestrebungen unterstützen.

7. Future collaboration entre l'A. I. B. M., la S. I. E. M. et la F. I. J. M. — Future collabo

ration between I. A. M. L., I. S.M.E. and I. F. M. Y. — Künftige Zusammenarbeit der A. I. B. M.,

5. 1. E. M. und der F. I. ). M. Le 4e Congrès international des Bibliothèques musicales souhaite, dans le cadre de sa colla

boration avec le Conseil international de la Musique, la création d'une commission mixte

comprenant des représentants de la Commission internationale des bibliothèques musicales

publiques auprès de l'A. I. B. M., de la Société internationale d'Education musicale et de la

Fédération internationale des Jeunesses musicales.

Cette Commission aurait pour tâche principale d'établir une liaison étroite, sur les plans

international, national et local, entre les trois organisations internationales et leurs adhérents.

Ainsi, ils organiseraient en commun des concerts, des conférences, des expositions etc., qui

seraient accessibles aux membres des trois fédérations.

D'une façon générale, le rôle de l'A. I. B. M. serait de donner toute aide et toutes facilités

aux autres organisations.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries wishes, in the field of collaboration

with the International Music Council, that there be created a joint committee consisting of

the representatives of the International Committee of Public Music Libraries from I. A. M. L.,

the International Society of Musical Education and of the International Federation of Mu

sical Youth.

The principal task of this Committee should be to establish a close link, on an inter

national, national and local level, between the three international organizations and their

adherents.

For exemple, they would organize jointly concerts, conferences, exhibitions etc., which

would be accessible to the members of the three federations.

In general, the task of I. A. M. L. should be to give all help and facilities to the other

organizations.

Der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken regt im Rahmen seiner Zusammen

arbeit mit dem Internationalen Musikrat die Bildung einer gemischten Kommission an, der

Vertreter der Internationalen Kommission öffentlicher Musikbibliotheken aus der A. I. B. M.,

der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Musikerziehung und der Internationalen Vereinigung

der Musikalischen Jugend angehören sollen.

Die Hauptaufgabe dieser Kommission wäre, die internationalen, nationalen und lokalen

Pläne dieser drei Vereinigungen und ihrer Mitglieder zur Übereinstimmung zu bringen.

So könnte sie z. B. gemeinsam Konzerte, Konferenzen, Ausstellungen usw. veranstalten,

zu denen die Mitglieder aller drei Vereinigungen Zutritt hätten.

Allgemein wäre es die Rolle der A. I. B. M., jede mögliche Unterstützung zu geben und den

anderen Organisationen Erleichterungen zu schaffen.

8. Activité de la Commission internationale des bibliothèques musicales publiques — Acti

vity of the International Committee of Public Music Libraries — Tätigkeit der Internationalen

Kommission der Volksmusikbibliotheken.

Le 4me Congrès international des Bibliothèques musicales souhaite que la Commission

internationale des bibliothèques publiques désigne dans chaque pays un représentant qualifié dont le rôle serait d'établir une documentation aussi complète que possible sur les biblio

thèques musicales publiques de son pays et de servir d'agent de liaison permanent entre ces

bibliothèques musicales et la Commission.

La documentation recueillie par ce représentant servirait à la Commission pour établir

une collaboration plus étroite entre les bibliothèques musicales publiques dans ces différents

pays et notamment en ce qui concerne le rôle éducatif de ces bibliothèques. Cette documentation devrait également fournir à la Commission la possibilité de stimuler

dans chaque pays une activité basée sur des méthodes de travail déjà expérimentées.

The 4th International Congress of Music Libraries wishes that the International Committee

of Public Libraries should designate in every country a qualified representative whose task

would be to establish a documentation as complete as possible about the public music lib

raries of his country and to serve as a permanent liaison officer between the music libraries

and the Committee.

The documentation collected by this representative should serve the Committee in order

to establish closer relations between the public music libraries in those different countries, and especially with reference to the educational role of those libraries.

This documentation should also enable the Committee to stimulate in each country

activity based upon well-established working methods.

Der 4. Internationale Kongreß der Musikbibliotheken wünscht, daß die internationale

Kommission öffentlicher Bibliotheken in jedem Land einen geeigneten Vertreter bestimmt,

dessen Aufgabe es sein soll, möglichst vollständiges Material über die öffentlichen Musik

bibliotheken seines Landes zusammenzustellen. Er soll zugleich als Verbindungsmann zwi

schen der Kommission und den Musikbibliotheken dienen.

Das gesammelte Material soll der Kommission helfen, eine bessere Zusammenarbeit der

öffentlichen Musikbibliotheken dieser Länder vor allem auf dem Gebiet der Musikerziehung zu erreichen.

Das Material soll der Kommission gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit geben, eine Tätigkeit auf Grund erprobter Methoden zu entfalten.
