2.3 System Landscape

In development and productive environments, Planning and Consolidation runs on a Microsoft .NET framework andVisual Basic runtime environment. The following platforms are supported:

● Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition (64 bit), 2012 standard Edition,or 2012 R2 standard Edition (64 bit)

● Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition, or SQL Server 2012Enterprise Edition

● Microsoft Office 2007(32 bit), or 2010 (32 bit)

● Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or 8.1

For more information, see the Product Availability Matrix on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/pam.Search on Planning and Consolidation.

Planning and Consolidation also supports the use of VMWare as a virtualization technology for landscapedeployment. Currently, versions ESX 3.x and 4.0 are supported.

The following are some key advantages of the architecture:

● Web-based platform with centralized database

● Scalable

● Zero-footprint, Web-based application that leverages cutting-edge technologies

● Next generation service-oriented architecture (SOA) providing easy integration

● Multiplatform capabilities

● Patented, enterprise-scale Microsoft Office integration

2.4 Development Environment

A development environment is an integral part of a successful implementation. It provides an environment for thefollowing development aspects:

● Allows testing of third party software updates to Microsoft Windows, Microsoft SQL, and Analysis Services

● Can be used as a staging area for new releases that require conversions

● Allows testing of changes to the design of environments

● Facilitates the development of future models and environments

● Serves as fail over and disaster recovery hardware

● Reduces the impact of any of the above activities on production users

Production and development environments do not have to be identical in hardware or configuration. We stronglyrecommend that you use a minimal system landscape for test and demonstration purposes only. For performance, scalability, high availability, and security reasons, do not use a minimal system landscape as your productionlandscape.

For information about system requirements, see the Installation Guide.

2. On the left of the dialog box, select Excel Options.

3. In the Live Office Compatibility area, select the Enable option.

4. Click Apply.

5. Click OK.

Configure XMLA Provider

The XMLA Provider requires the following configuration settings:

1. On the Planning and Consolidation .NET server, go to <drive>:\Websrvr\Web\BPC and open theDataSources.xml file.

2. In this file, update the server name to be the same as the Planning and Consolidation server name in the samenode:

<URL>http://<servername:port>/SAP/BPC/App/XMLA/XmlaWebService.asmx</URL><DataSourceInfo>Data Source = http://<servername:port></DataSourceInfo>

3. If this is not the case, do the following:

○ Change the file so that the server names are the same.

○ Save the file DataSources.xml.

○ Restart the .NET server.

Configure Flash

To allow Flash files to connect to the Planning and Consolidation XMLA provider or SAP Crystal Dashboard DesignWeb services, there are two crossdomain.xml files installed, during installation. The crossdomain.xml files aremandatory to allow data access from a Flash file (such as an SAP Crystal dashboard) than runs locally or not in thesame server as planning and Consolidation.

For more information about cross-domain policy, see www.adobe.com/devnet/articles/crossdomain_policy_file_spec.html

Never delete the crossdomain.xml files.

The following information indicates the contents of these crossdomain.xml files.

In the Planning and Consolidation .NET Server, there should be two cross-domain files:

1. <Root path of Planning and Consolidation web site>\crossdomain.xmlThis file contains:

<cross-domain-policy>

<cross-domain-policy><allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*" secure="false" /><allow-access-from domain="*" secure="false"/></cross-domain-policy>

CautionIf, for some reason, these files are removed or modified, an SAP Crystal dashboard that uses theEPMconnector connection may not work correctly.

5.3 Creating an SAP Crystal Dashboard

You can use SAP Crystal Dashboard Design to create interactive reports and dashboards based upon Planning andConsolidation data.

Features

The following is an overview of the process to create a dashboard in SAP Crystal Dashboard Design.

● Design report in the SAP BusinessObjects EPM solutions, add-in for Microsoft Office

Use Excel functions to model data derived from EPM products and other data (such as Planning andConsolidation data). The EPM add-in designs reports based on the selected data.

● Design dashboard

Based upon the EPM add-in reports, create a design for the dashboard and its user interface.

● Configure data connections with the EPM connector

Link the dashboard user interface with the report data.

● Generate Flash dashboard

Export the dashboard to the Flash player.

● Upload the dashboard SWF file to the Planning and Consolidation library

Publish the Flash dashboard in Planning and Consolidation for use in workspaces.

5.4 Publishing an SAP Crystal Dashboard

You can publish an SAP Crystal Dashboard document to appear in and use data from Planning and Consolidation. The following publishing methods are available within Planning and Consolidation:

● Publishing SAP Crystal documents to the Planning and Consolidation Web client

● Publishing SAP Crystal documents to the EPM Add-in for Microsoft Office

Procedure

Publishing SAP Crystal Dashboard Documents to Planning and Consolidation Web Client

Publishing to Documents

1. From the Home tab, choose Documents.

2. Choose Post a document.

The Post a Document wizard opens. Follow the steps of the wizard to achieve the following:

○ Choose a document and enter an optional description of the document

○ Select users or teams of users that need to be able to access the document

○ Select the appropriate type and subtype for the document

○ Choose whether to send an e-mail to all users who can access the document, and enter the text for the e-mail message

○ Choose a document context for the document if applicable

The document is now displayed in the Documents list.

Publishing to Library

1. From the Home tab, choose Library.

2. Choose New Dashboard .

3. Choose .swf file (and .xlf file if applicable) and upload.

As a result the document is displayed in the Library list.

The SAP Crystal dashboard inherits context members provided that they are not included in the page header of theAnalyzer query.

Any dimensions, used in the page header, inherit from context when the GetCurrentView service is used.

Publishing SAP Crystal Documents to EPM Add-in for Microsoft Office

1. From the EPM Add-in, choose Insert Dashboard in the action pane

2. Select the Flash file that you exported from SAP Crystal Dashboard Design.

3. For Excel and Word, choose Toggle Edit Mode in the action pane to publish the dashboard.

NoteCurrently, Office 2007 applications do not save an embedded flash file. You should save as a 2003 documenttype. This may be resolved in the future.

You should also consider the following:

● The published dashboard inherits from the context. That is, changing the context refreshes the SAP Crystalmodels

● Embedding Crystal flash files in any other way (such as using the Office application's capability) does not inheritfrom context.

● When embedding within Office, it is best to design the models such that filters are set in the action pane
