Product l i fe cycle stage

1.MATERIALThis step is where the temporary product, including the production material and component. That temporary product is intended forthe reduction of the environment impact.

2.DESIGN In this step, design and materials are selected carefully before producing the product, including design that appropriate for theenvironments.

3.PRODUCTION The Product is produce using materials and components. This step includes the product that helps reducing bad impact to the

    environment in the production process.

    Information:

Kalsi and ?ter are produced without asbestos (no chrysotile, amosite, chrocidolite or any other type of asbestos). The production ofKalsi and ?ter are using reinforcement fibre from organic fibre (such as cellulose fibre) which is safe for the environment.

Information:Kalsi is produce using the special technology from experienced International company under Etex Group – Belgium that spreadacross the world.Kalsi is produced with selected raw materials, through the autoclaved process (high temperature drying process to eliminatemoisture from fibre cement materials) to get a stable and long lasting product.

Information:Kalsi are produced by using renewable resources and recycled material. PT Eternit Gresik use 4 ton/hour Crushing Machine to crushthe waste material in to a certain size that could be mixed with the other raw materials. The positive impact from this process is thatthere will be no dry waste material from the production of Kalsi.

In addition, PT Eternit Gresik has decided to build 2000m³ rain water reservoirs. The facility could give independent water suppliesfor 8 month in a year. The reservoirs have a built in overflow mechanism which allow over capacity of rain water automatically flown tothe factory drainage facility and distributed orderly to the sewer nearby the factory. The re-design of water recycle process circuitallow PT Eternit Gresik to have a longer water sedimentation process. The longer time for sedimentation process gives positivecontribution by having more reusable clear water, which could be used in the production process and avoid having bad situation suchas mineral sedimentation flown to drainage environment. The sedimentation will be auto recycled on the production process.

KALSI and ETER are asbestos-free building boards and roofsheets recommended by the Green Building Council Indonesia(GBCI) as green building material and registered in the GreenListing Directory published by INIAS Resource Center.

KALSI and ETER products fulfil the criterias of a Green Productand contribute to your Green Building, based on followingcriteria:

flat boards are manufactured with a special technologycoming from the international experience of the Etex Group'scompanies worldwide. All boards are made of selected rawmaterials and processed by AUTOCLAVE (drying process under

high pressure and temperature) for very good durability anddimensional stability. All products are produced withoutusing any asbestos as a raw material ( )100% Asbestos-free

cement cellulose boards are absolutely free of asbestos, chrysotile, amosite, chrocidolite and any kind of asbestos.

boards have some unique features andbenefits when compared with others and those with asbestoscontent and air-cured. The autoclaving process (hightemperature and pressure) makes boards very stable, withvery small dimension variances when changes in humidity andtemperature occur. Their stability allows the boards not to crack

and the joints between the boards not to be submitted toshrinkage and expansion. These characteristics are fullyappreciated in interior (hygrometry variances due to the use of airconditioners) and exterior (variances due to the rain, sun andclimate changes) applications.

    cement cellulose

PT. Eternit Gresik is the only company in Indonesia to have thetechnology to produce fibre cement boards with such awide range of thickness from 3 mm up to 20 mm for all kinds of

applications: ceiling, partition, cladding, facade, flooring...

    kalsi

    Wide thickness range

This type has a 27 to 32 mm (a) width and 0.8 to 1.2 mm (b) depththinned edges. Recessed edges serve at the junction between 2boards, to obtain a perfect and invisible joint (flush joint) when thegap between 2 boards is filled with .

Perfect and even joints between 2 boards.Reduction of consumption.Faster and easier work when jointing the boards.

concrete, bricks and water (cleaner and faster).

    Dry

The lightweight systems allow the construction of ceilings, partitions, facades, floors...The lightweight construction systems are made of differentcomponents: the boards, and also different framing andstructural components adapted to each different application(studs, metal frame, screws, reinforcement fiber tapes, jointingcompounds, sealants,...). All component together are givingstructural support to the building. The systems allow theeasy and fast installation of water pipes, electrical cables andwires, etc. Among others, the benefits of the systems compared toconventional construction systems (bricks and mortar,concrete...) are:

Problem :if using a metal frame with a width < 42 mm, the screw distancewill be too close to the edges of

As the screws would not be positioned far enough from the edges, the screws could generate cracks along the boards and make thefull system weak.

    Kalsiboard Ling 6, 6-R2 & 6-R4

Solution:To respect a distance of 12 to 15 mm between the screws and theedges of . To do so, use the

To avoid any quality issue when applying the sealant, payattention to the proportion of gap width compared with gap depth. If the gap width is up to 10 mm, hence the gap width (A) is equal togap depth (B), and if the gap width is between 10 mm to 25 mm,hence the gap width is two times bigger than the gap depth (fig.a& fig.b).

It is not recommended to use an internal compound for filling thegap. For semi visible joints system, it is only recommended to usea polyurethane sealant, U.V resistant. To choose the adapted frame of structure for external cladding

applications, please don't hesitate to consult us, because it isdependant on building type, height of building, wind load andother parameters.

The painting process should follow the paint manufacturer'sprocedures. The paint to be used must be a special paint forfacades and resistant to weather condition. In the paintingprocess, paint the entire surface once as a first layer. After the firstlayer is dry, apply the other layers accordingly to the paintmanufacturer’s instruction. It is also necessary to paint the edgesof the boards, and not only their surface.

    Joints system

For filling the gaps between boards, it is necessary touse a polyurethane and UV resistant joint sealant, which canresist exterior conditions. It is necessary to avoid the joint sealantdirectly touching the frame. It is recommended to use a backingrod made of cork, rubber (fig.a) and an insulation adhesive tape(fig.b).

finished with various floor finishings such as carpet, vinyl, parquet, and ceramic tiles. It is necessary to note that the roomfunction relates to structure load, such as the dead and liveloads to be endured by the floor. The usage of carpet, vinyl, and parquet finishing is suggested only for minimal load spacesutilization, such as residential, office, small office, etc. In caseof a heavy load area, it is suggested to add mortar and ceramictiles (see detail). This floor finishing application may alsoreduce vibrations effects.
