Nach der Preuss. Lehrerzeitg. wur- den in der Sitzung, in der die Anfrage der amerik. Lehrerschaft zur Beant- wortung stand, Bedenken geliussert, ob nicht dadurch dem gewerblichen Un- terrichtswesen Miinchens eine Konkur- renz entstehen, ob die Bejahung nicht eine grissere finanzielle Belastung der Stadt bedeuten wiirde u. a. Nach den Ausftihrungen des Schulrats Dr. Ker- schensteiner aber, der darauf verwies, dass Amerika noch jetzt aus Frank- reich alljiihrlich um 20 Millionen Dol- lar, aus Deutschland aber nur um 2 Millionen Dollar kunstgewerbliche Ar- beiten beziehe, und nach Xusserungen eines Magistratsrats, dass die Zulas- sung der amerikanischen Lehrer dem Miinchener Schulwesen und der ge- werblichen Technik nur zum Ruhm und zum Vorteil gereichen wiirde, wur- de das Gesuch genehmigt.
Mit einem Festakt zur Mitternachts- stunde begingen in Berlin der Deut- sche Schriftstellerverband. der Schrift- stellerinnenbund, der Berliner Schrift- stellerklub, die literarische Vereini- gung ,.Klause", der Schutzverband der deutschen Schriftsteller und die Gott- schedgesellschaft den 70. Geburtstag Viktor Bliithgens, des Dichters der Ju- gend.
An 2000 Kindern in Berliner Hilfs- schulen sind, wie die Pr. L. mitteilt, Versuche angestellt worden, die Kinder zu befithigen, die linke Hand ebenso
wie die rechte beim Schreibe, Zeich- nCn u. 8. w. zu gebrauchen. Nach einem Bericht des Stadtschulinspektors Dr. Dickhoff sind diese Versuch galnz er- folglos gewesen. D)er Nutzen aus der Linkskultur stehe in keinem Verhiilt- nis au der aufgewendeten Miihe und Arbeit. Besonders unglinstig seien die Versuche bei demn Linksschreiben aus- gefallen. Die Berichte hiertiber spre- chen sogar von einer Schmiererei auf Kosten des Sch~inschreibens und der Rechtschreibung. Selbst die Kinder baten, doch wieder mit der rechten Hand schreiben zu dirfen.
Im vergangenen Monat weilte, so meldet die Leipziger Lehrerzeitung, der Direktor der grossen ,,Erziehungs- schule" an der Universitit Chicago, Charles HI. Judd, u StuidienzwC;ckc in Leipzig. ,,Die pitdagogischen Einrich- tungen der Universitlit Chicago," so schreibt die Lehrerzeitg., ,,sind wohl die grssten, die es iiberhaupt gibt, und umfassen etwa das, was wir in Deutschland unter demn Titel einer pii- dagogischcn Akademie so oft wiin- schen, aber nicht besitzen."
Die Budgetkommission des Rteichls- tags hat den vorgeschlagenen Reichs- zschuss im Betrage von zweihundert- tausend Mark fiir die Olympischen ,Spile, welche im Jahre 1916 stattfin- den sollen, abgelehnt. Die der Bewil- ligung feindselige Mehrheit setzte sich aus Zentrum. Sozialdemokraten und Polen zusammen.
