1 Übersicht Viele Unternehmen sind auf der Suche nach kostengünstigen und einfach erweiterbaren Storage Lösungen. Deshalb bietet Ihnen die Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH mit EasySOD ein flexibles Konzept mit dem Sie immer ausreichend Speicherplatz haben, wobei nur der tatsächliche Verbrauch berechnet wird. Damit sind Sie in der Lage, geplante und ungeplante Kapazitätserweiterungen schnell und einfach umzusetzen. Gerade ein ungeplanter akuter Storagebedarf kann immer wieder zu Engpässen führen und den Geschäftsablauf bremsen. Lesen Sie in diesem Whitepaper wie sie von dem EasySOD Konzept profitieren können, wie es funktioniert und wie es installiert und konfiguriert wird. Im Detail wird nur auf EasySOD unter Windows eingegangen - prinzipiell ist das Konzept aber auch unter Linux anwendbar.

2 Einführung EasySOD (Storage on Demand)

Diese Lösung basiert auf einer FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI, welche in der Standardkonfiguration ~1,3 Terra Byte (netto) für Ihre Anwendungen zur Verfügung stellt. Eine Software liest die Filesysteme aus und liefert nur die tatsächlich genutzte Kapazität als Ergebnis zurück. Deshalb müssen Sie nur die Bytes bezahlen, welche durch Ihre Applikation und das Betriebsystem genutzt werden. Durch dieses Konzept können Sie dem Server von Anfang an ausreichend freien Festplattenspeicher zur Verfügung stellen, da nicht jede einzelne Festplatte berechnet wird, sondern nur die genutzten Bytes. Durch das automatisierte Reporting, welches auch die genutzte Kapazität in Prozent berücksichtigt, behalten Sie immer den Überblick über den Belegungsgrad jedes Filesystemes an einer FibreCAT SX.

Es wird nur das berechnet, was tatsächlich benutzt wird!

Außerdem haben Sie immer genug freie Storagekapazitäten zur Verfügung und können den Bedarf innerhalb von wenigen Minuten Ihren Anforderungen anpassen. Es ist nicht mehr notwendig erst eine Anfrage bei Ihrem Servicepartner nach weiteren Festplatten zu stellen, dann die Lieferzeiten und ggf. den benötigten Servicetechniker einzuplanen, um endlich, nach einer Woche, den zusätzlich benötigten Plattenspeicher nutzen zu können.

Da die FibreCAT SX in jeder Ausbaustufe immer komplett mit allen Festplatten in einem Shelf bestückt ist, müssen Sie nur wissen, wann Sie an die Grenze der jeweiligen Ausbaustufe kommen. Durch das EasySOD Konzept und die montlichen Reports behalten Sie aber auch dabei die Übersicht.

3 FibreCAT SX 3.1 Namenskonvention Um die nachfolgende Konfiguration besser verstehen zu können, wird an dieser Stelle kurz auf die Namenskonventionen im Bezug auf eine FibreCAT SX eingegangen. Innerhalb einer FibreCAT SX, von unten nach oben aufgebaut, kommen zuerst die physikalischen Festplatten. Diese können zu einer VDISK gruppiert werden und darin können eine bis mehrere VOLUMES definiert werden. Diese VOLUMES wiederum werden am Server als LUN (Logic Unit Number) verbunden.

3.2 VDISK und PORTS In einer FibreCAT SX mit zwei Kontrollermodulen sind beide Kontrollermodule aktiv. Jedoch auf jede virtuelle Disk (VDISK) (mit ihren zugehörigen VOLUMES und die ihr zugeteilten Hot Spares) kann nur von einem einzigen Kontroller aus zugegriffen werden. (Kein Trespass (manuelles umschalten der LUNS) und keine gleichzeitiger Zugriff auf eine VDISK von beiden Kontrollern)

4 Grobkonzept

Der ServerView OperationsManager, ist ein SNMP basiertes Managementtool, welches die Serverhardware mithilfe der auf dem Server installierten ServerView Agenten überwachen kann. Diese Software ist kostenlos und in jedem PRIMERGY Server Beipack oder auf der Fujitsu Siemens Computers Supportwebseite zu finden. Im Zusammenhang mit EasySOD bietet ServerView OperationsManager die Basis um alle Daten zentral zu sammeln. Anschließend werden die Filesystemfüllstände automatisiert per E-Mail verschickt. Es werden nur die Partitionen protokolliert welche an einer FibreCAT SX angeschlossen sind und nicht die lokalen Festplatten.

5 Version 1 - feste Konfiguration

In der ersten Version von EasySOD wird auf eine feste RAID Konfiguration innerhalb der FibreCAT SX aufgebaut, dadurch muss der maximal zur Verfügung stehende Festplattenplatz nicht kontinuierlich neu berechnet werden. Die feste Konfiguration der FibreCAT SX 80 iSCSI besteht aus 5x 300 GB im RAID 5 + 6x 300 GB im RAID 5 + 1x 300 GB global Hot-Spare-Festplatte. In den beiden RAID 5 VDISK stehen Ihnen 4X~300 = 900 GB + 5x~300GB = 1200 GB also ~2,1 Terrabyte für Ihre Anwendungen zur Verfügung.

6 Feinkonzept 6.1 VOLUMES

In unserer Beispielkonfiguration gehen wir von 3 Servern aus. Die VDISK sind zwar fest vorgegeben, die VOLUMES können aber in der jeweilig gewünschten Größe angelegt werden. PRIMERGY 1 hat VOLUMES von 100 GB auf VDISK 0 (VDISK1R5_V1) PRIMERGY 2 hat VOLUMES von 120 GB auf VDISK1 (VDISK2R5_V2) PRIMERGY 3 hat VOLUMES von 80 GB auf VDISK0 (VDISK1R5_V1)

und VOLUMES von 140 GB auf VDISK1 (VDISK2R5_V2)

6.2 Filesystem

ServerView Suite Operations Manager liest mit Hilfe der ServerView Agenten, welche auf dem Server installiert sind, die Filesysteme aus und liefert die tatsächlich genutzte Kapazität zurück. Ob es sich um eine Partition auf einer FibreCAT SX handelt, wird an dem Partitionsnamen erkannt. ServerView sucht nach der Buchstabenfolge „EASYSOD“

6.3 Zielkonfiguration

In der Zielkonfiguration haben wir zwei separate iSCSI-LAN’s (LAN 1 und LAN 2) und ein Management-LAN (LAN 3). Dies ist die empfohlene Konfiguration, auch wenn es rein technisch möglich ist, Management und iSCSI auf einem LAN zu kombinieren. Die Installation verläuft in 6 Schritten:

6.4 Set-up FibreCAT SX Nachfolgend wird die Erst-Konfiguration der FibreCAT SX erklärt und dann die EASYSOD spezifischen Anpassungen im ServerView Operationsmanager. 6.4.1 Serielle Konfiguration

Schalten Sie den Server und die SX 60/ SX 80 ein

Verbinden Sie das serielle Kabel mit dem Kontroller A und dem COM Port des Hosts

Richten Sie eine HyperTerminal-Verbindung zum Kontroller A ein.

• HyperTerminal Einstellungen:

o 115xxx

o 8 bps

o 1 stop bit

o Keine Parität

o Keine Kontrolle des Datenflusses

• Loginname

o manage

• Password

Falls die serielle Verbindung nicht funktioniert, überprüfen Sie die boot.ini auf eine Umleitung des com1 Ports (das kann passieren, wenn sie bspw. Eine FibreCAT NX mit dem Windows Storage Server verwenden) und kommentieren Sie die folgenden Passagen aus: redirect=com1 redirectbaudrate=19200 /redirect

Verwenden Sie Ihre Web Browser um eine Verbindung mit dem Kontroller A einzurichten. Username = „manage“ password = „!manage“

Überprüfen Sie die möglichen Konfigurationen auf WWW.FibreCAT.net . Kontroller A Port 0 und Kontroller B Port 0 müssen im gleichen Subnetz sein, weil sich diese zwei Ports in der gleichen failover Gruppe befinden. Die gleiche Regel gilt für Kontroller A Port 1 und Kontroller B Port 1. z.B.

In einer produktiven Umgebung sollten Sie nicht die Administrator Gruppe auswählen, weil die Verschlüsselung für die SNMP SET Befehle nicht sehr hoch ist und das Passwort gelesen und relativ leicht entschlüsselt werden kann. In dieser Testumgebung können Sie die Gruppe Administrators verwenden, weil das leichter ist. Wenn Sie das Feld leer lassen, wird die lokale Administratorgruppe standardmäßig Zugriff haben.

Fügen Sie die FibreCAT SX nur mit der IP-Adresse vom Controller A hinzu, da es sonst zu doppelten Einträgen bei der SNMP Abfrage kommt.

Sind dort keine Daten vorhanden oder ist unter Systemname der falsche Name eingegeben worden, oder ist der Systemname nicht in Grossbuchstaben geschrieben worden, kontrollieren Sie die Einstellungen wie unter dem Kapitel 6.4.2 „Systeminformationen konfigurieren“ auf Seite 10.

In der Datei: „out_EasySOD_AvailSpace_080819122425.csv” Wenn im Partitionsnamen der String „EASYSOD“ (Großgeschrieben) auftaucht, werden folgende Werte für die selektierten Objekte eingetragen. „Servicepartner”, “Customer”, “ServerName”, “SystemName”, “IPAddress”, “VolumeName”, “UsedBytes”,”USedPercent” Hier werden alle an die FibreCAT SX angeschlossenen Server aufgeführt. Die Werte der Spalte „UsedBytes“ müssen addiert werden und gegen die „Notes“ Spalte der Datei „out_EasySOD_USedSpace_...“ gegen gerechnet werden. Mit der Spalte „Customer“ muss ein eindeutiger Kundenname für die Rechnungsdaten im Abrechnungssystem verknüpft werden. In der Datei: “out_EasySOD_UsedSpace_080819122426.csv” Und folgende Werte wenn der SystemName = “EASYSODSX80ISCSI” ist. “Administrator“, “Location”, “ServerName”, “SystemName”, “NetAddress”,“Notes” In dem Feld “Notes” steht die Bruttokapazität der FibreCAT SX. Steht dort kein Wert wird von einer Bruttokapazität von 2100 Gigabyte (2,1 Terabyte) ausgegangen. In der Datei: „ServerIdList.csv“ “Server_ID, Time_of_last_Refresh, ServerName, IP_Address” Dort ist nur der Wert „Time_of_last_Refresh“ relevant da dieser als Zeitstempel der Datenerfassung und als Abrechungsdatum zählt. Sind die Zeiten unterschiedlich zählt der jüngste Wert.
