HOME > ELIOR AT LLOYD’S

The building consists of three main towers and three service towers around a central, rectangular space. Its focal point is the large Underwriting Room on the ground floor, which houses the famous Lutine Bell. The Underwriting Room (often simply known as the Room) is overlooked by galleries, forming a 60 metres (197 ft) high atrium lit naturally through a huge barrel-vaulted glass roof. The first four galleries open onto the atrium space, and are connected by escalators through the middle of the structure.

The 11th floor houses the Committee Room, an 18th century dining-room designed for the 2nd Earl of Shelburne by Robert Adam in 1763; it was transferred piece-by-piece from the previous (1958) Lloyd's building across the road.

The first Lloyd's building (at 12 Leadenhall Street) was built on this site in 1928. In 1958, due to expansion, a new building was constructed across the road at 51 Lime Street. In 1978, again due to the prospect of overcrowding, Lloyd's commissioned Richard Rogers to redevelop the site and the original 1928 building was demolished to make way for the present one which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986.

THE LLOYD’S BUILDING The Chairman and Committee of the Lloyd’s Branch of the Royal British Legion have asked me to write to you to say thank you once again for the wonderful hospitality that you provided to our guests.

I know that for many this is a highlight in their calendar, so it is a credit to you and your team, that the high standard is maintained year on year.

Regina Bond, The Royal British Legion

3. The Logo

3.1 Elements of the logo

The logo comprises the "tb-orbit" symbol, the "Tibbett & Britten" logotype and the strapline. There are two basic forms of the logo (see section 2)

and the Group may introduce new straplines from time to time.

The relative sizes and positions of the logo elements to each other is fixed. The logo should always be reproduced from the correct digital files.

Never attempt to recreate artwork for either the symbol, the logotype or the strapline.

The logotype must never be used without the symbol, although the symbol can be used on its own:

In a decorative manner – e.g. as a 10% watermark behind text, or cropped, or as a repeating pattern, etc.

For high impact – such as on a cab-cap deflector or an exhibition display.

For very small use on certain promotional items, such as badges or cufflinks.

On some clothing, workwear and promotional items, where more subtle branding is called for – e.g, glass/silverware.

3.2 Logo Artwork

Digital artwork files are provided in the

accompanying CD-ROM. The EPS files are

for professional designers and contain fully

scalable vector artwork. The JPGs may be

opened in office applications and are bitmaps

(will noticeably pixellate if expanded too far) –

but are provided in both low (LR) and high

(HR) resolution versions. The GIFs incorporate

transparent backgrounds, and are again

provided in two resolutions.

3.3 Logo Exclusion Zones

An exclusion zone has been established to prevent the logo from being overcrowded or obscured. This is an imaginary box surrounding the logo,

and into which no other graphic element may intrude. The diagram below shows how the primary exclusion zone is constructed:

On signage, etc., there is a different exclusion zone, designed to maximise the impact of the brand identity on such high profile media, and this is

constructed as follows:

3.4 Minimum Size

The minimum size for the logo will depend on the material on to which it is being reproduced.

As a general rule, it is not advisable to go smaller than 40mm wide. The symbol on its own can

be reduced further, but it should not go any smaller than 6mm wide. These guidelines are for

use on good quality surfaces – check print quality before any reproduction at small scale.

8. Stationery

8.1 Letterheads

The preferred paper for letterheads and

compliments slips is Modo ‘Presentation’

Brilliant White 100gsm. If this is unavailable

then McNaughton ‘Perfect Image’ 100gsm, or

equivalent, may be used. There should be no

watermark, and matching envelopes (not

overprinted) should be ordered.

Letterheads should carry the logo, the

company/division name, address, telephone,

fax, email and web address, plus the legal lines,

and (in the UK) the Queen’s Award emblem (see

section 7). A double space should be inserted

between the telephone and fax numbers, and

the email and web addresses (with a single

space after the colon in each case).

Letterheads are constructed on a two-column

grid, with the left edge of the logo symbol in

alignment with the left edge of the second

column. The left-hand sides of both the

address block and the legal lines align with

the left-hand edge of the logotype/strapline.

Specifiers and printers should take into

account the variable effects of using the same

inks on different materials. Colours should

always be adjusted visually to match the

Group’s corporate colours (see section 4).

Correspondence should also conform to

the new standard, with 10pt Helvetica

Neue, Arial or Swiss used for the

bodycopy when typing or laser printing on

to letterheads, etc. (see also section 5).

8.2 Compliments Slips

‘With compliments’ slips are constructed

on the same grid as letterheads and use

the same typefaces. In the UK, they should

also include the Queen’s Award emblem.

PROCEDURE FOR CALCULATING LOGODIMENSIONS/POSITIONS(vehicle liveries only):

If l = length of trailer/box and h = itsuninterrupted height, then r = l/h.

If r > 4.5 then let r = 4.5.

Calculate the width of the logo (w) using the formula: w = 0.9 x r x h and then centrethe logo horizontally on the trailer/box side.

If r ≤ 1.5 then the logo is placed on thehorizontal centre line.

Otherwise, the drop (c) between this centreline and the base of the logo is calculated as follows: c = (r – 1.5) x w/62.

Finally, the web address is added with itsbase a distance of h/10 from the bottom of the trailer/box (i.e. the lowest point fromwhich the uninterrupted height is measured),and scaled and positioned so that it alignswith the word 'Britten' in the logo.

Countrywide Cruisers

Avon Ring 120 locks, 94 miles

The Avon Ring is a wonderfully varied circuit,

again offering a mixture of canal and river

cruising. Journey south from Brewood via

the BCN main line and Gas Street Basin until

the junction at Kings Norton on the Worcester

and Birmingham.

The Stratford Canal has its own special

flavour with characteristically lush

vegetation and the split cantilever

bridges and barrel roofed cottages

unique to this waterway. World famous

for its theatres and Shakespearean

heritage, Stratford is a mecca for

visitors and with a wealth of quality

shops and eating places, a memorable

visit is assured.

Rising near the old battle ground at Naseby,

the Avon becomes navigable at Stratford and

meanders along a beguiling course westwards

via the fruit-filled Vale of Evesham and on to

the junction with the Severn at Tewkesbury.

This outstanding example of an English

country town is well worth exploring, with its

fascinating Abbey and many narrow lanes of

half-timbered buildings.

The deep, wide waters and willow-lined banks of

the Severn offer a marked contrast to the more

sedentary Avon and glimpses of the Malvern

Hills and occasional sandstone outcrops enliven

the journey up-river to Worcester and beyond to

Stourport. Follow the Staffs and Worcester and

Shropshire Union Canals back to Brewood to

complete a memorable fortnight capturing the

very essence of Englishness.

The almost limitless choice of routes available from Brewood makes it impossible to detail all of the possibilities here. The maps following are intended to enable you to form some ideas and the approximate cruising times between the places shown provide the information necessary to plan your route in some detail. A range of comprehensive Guides is available to assist the planning process and these are listed on the insert accompanying this brochure.

Welcome to Countrywide Cruisers

About us

We believe the ingredients for a truly memorable

canal holiday are simple: stylish and superbly

fitted boats with every comfort taken care of.

We have a fleet of 18 boats which are fully

serviced and maintained every time they

are taken out. Countrywide boats are only

sent out when they are totally spic and span.

We believe that with a world of waterways

out there to explore, the head gasket need

not be your concern! In the unlikely event

of a problem, we are on call 24 hours a day

providing a fast and efficient back-up service.

A home from home

As a founder member of the exclusive

Blue Riband Club group, it is our philosophy

that your narrowboat should provide the same

facilities and level of comfort as your home.

At Countrywide we believe that when you

have finished cruising for the day, you will

probably appreciate a few home comforts like

a piping hot shower and warm radiators. Our

narrowboats are eye-catching and distinctive,

but their beauty is more than skin-deep. Their

interiors are fitted by expert craftsmen and

are light and spacious. Thanks to the quietness

and efficiency of our engines, you can enjoy a

comfortable, contented and trouble-free cruise.

New to boating?

Don’t worry! Narrowboats are easy to use, even

for the novice. We spend plenty of time with our

new hirers explaining how to handle the boat and

won’t let you set off alone until you are confident.

A few weeks before your holiday you will

receive a Blue Riband Club Cruising Guide

full of useful hints and tips on how the

canals work. A DVD is also available. Study

these and you will be well-prepared by the

time you come aboard.

It is a good idea to choose a route before

you set off and we will be pleased to share

our years of route planning experience with

you. Novice or veteran, whatever your

itinerary or interests, we will be delighted to

discuss any aspect of your trip.

Hidden extras?

There are absolutely no hidden extras in our

prices. Fuel, car-parking, pets, television hire,

V.A.T. and even the damage waiver are all

included in the brochure price.

We are a family company who have been building canal boats for 40? years, with an enviable reputation for providing the best. We pride ourselves on our friendly service and attention to detail, only possible in a small family-run business.

Exteriors

The all-steel hulls observe the flowing lines of

our local Black Country boat-building heritage.

Most have large, cruiser-style stern, allowing

plenty of space for the helmsman and crew.

There is also a generous fore decks. Some now

feature the more classical, traditional and

semi-traditional stern.

The floor plan of ‘Sir Fergus’ (William I guess

you will want to change this) is typical of the

Countrywide Cruisers fleet. Layout plans for all

the boats are in the separate pull-out section.

Interiors

Oak and ash have been used throughout

to provide light, airy interiors. These pale

woods have been teamed with fresh, breezy

fabrics to enhance the sense of spaciousness

on board. Sleeping cabins have full-length

wardrobes and built-in drawer units.

All boats have at least one permanent

double bed and several have two, each

fitted with high quality, interior sprung

mattresses. All berths are at least 6’3” long.

Pillows, duvets and all bed linen is supplied.

Where possible, raised saloon areas are used

to allow ease of movement through the cabin

– and lovely views!

Electrics

Generally twelve volt DC with separate

circuits for engine starting and cabin services

which include carefully designed lighting,

pressurised water system, shaver socket (240v)

fridge, colour television, radio/CD player and

a charge socket for mobile phone/video

camera power packs.
