Vorwort
Verehrung Sakyamuni Buddha!
Liebe Leserin, lieber Leser,
In

Rezitationstexte in Ihre chinesisch-vietnamesisch-deutsche Edition
bernehmen.

Vorwort 11
Preface
In 1998, Venerable Thch Hnh Ho suggested that I contact Dr.
Gnzel from Goettingen University to ask for permission to publish
his German translation of the Daily Recitations of the Meditation
School. Venerable Thch Hnh Ho, previously known as Frank
Sanzenbacher, was a German ordained monk in the Vietnamese
Mahayana Buddhist tradition at Vin Gic Pagoda, Germany.
When completing his Doctorate of Philosophy thesis at Goettingen
University, Venerable Thch Hnh Ho researched and translated
the Daily Recitations of the Meditation School from Chinese to
German. We contacted Dr. Gnzel, who graciously granted
permission for this request. Later that year, during the auspicious
time of the Ullambana Festival, the Daily Recitations of the
Meditation School was published in Germany in both the
Vietnamese and German languages.
In 2015, the thought crossed my mind to translate this text from
German into English. If available in Vietnamese, German and
English, then practitioners would benefit from enhanced
understanding when reciting its verses. These available translations
can then also be the source of further translations into other
languages such as Russian, Tibetan, Mongolian, French and
various Scandinavian languages. With that in mind, I asked
Venerable Thch Hnh Bn to contact Dr. Diennemann to assist in
finding qualified translators.
12 Die tglichen Rezitationen der Meditationsschule
Ms. Edith C. Watts, a German woman ordained in the Tibetan
Buddhist Tradition (Dharma name Ani Jinpa Lhamo), gladly
accepted our request to translate the texts from German into
English, except for the Amitabha Buddha Sutra, which the City of
Ten Thousand Buddhas in the United States had translated into
English directly from the Chinese version of Venerable Xingci,
existed since the beginning of the 20th century. In 2015, Vin Gic
Pagoda added the English version of the Amitabha Buddha Sutra to
the existing Vietnamese and German versions to produce the
Daily recitations of the Meditation School in three languages. In
2016, I suggested to Venerable Thch Hnh Bn that he add the
Chinese version by Venerable Xingci. We are pleased to present
the first digital version in four languages: Chinese, German,
Vietnamese and English.
Venerable Thch Hnh Gii, abbot of Vin Gic Pagoda in
Hannover, Germany, translated this preface from Vietnamese into
English so that readers could gain an insight into the progression of
the Daily Recitations of the Meditation School translations over
the years.
We are part of the first generation of Vietnamese to settle on
German soil in 1977. It is now the year 2016. For nearly forty years
we have tried our best to provide future generations with reliable
sources of Buddhist reference texts which they can depend on for
academic or spiritual purposes.
March 8, 2016, Vien Giac Pagoda, Hannover, Germany.
Most Venerable Thch Nh in,
Founding Abbot of Vin Gic Pagoda.

Dharmaraja, exalted Sublime One, liberated from the three
realms Teacher of devas and humans, kind father to sentient
beings of the four forms of birth even with one thought of
refuge accumulated karma from three kalpas can be
annihilated. Praise and glorification (of the virtues of the
Buddha), could go on forever and yet not end.

The subject and object of veneration are by nature empty
and still, their spiritual union is ineffable and unimaginable.
The mandala in which I now find myself is like Indras
jeweled net. All buddhas of the ten directions are reflected in
each jewel. My own body now appears in the same
multiplicity before all buddhas, with my face touching the
buddhas feet, returning to true life, I bow down.

Therefore in emptiness there is no form, no feeling, no

There are no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no

There are no elements, no elements/realms of sight up to no

Because there is no attainment, the bodhisattva, supported

his mind; Because he is unimpeded he has no fear. He
removes confusions and illusions and thus achieves perfect
nirvana.
