As small and as light as possible and yet fully integrated into the modu-lar ALPA 12 platform. All lenses of the exceptionally wide palette from 24- to 250-mm focal length, all digi-tal backs and all roll-film backs up to 6x9 which can be used with the ALPA 12 WA, the SWA and the XY can also be fitted without limits to the ALPA 12 TC (Travel Compact). If the ALPA 12 TC is used hand-held with the excep-tionally bright 120° ALPA viewfind-er then focusing is done by simple es-timation of the right distance. Used in this way, the ALPA 12 TC is pri-marily a wide-angle camera for lenses with focal lengths of 24 to approx. 75 mm, max. 80 mm. This is to be understood as a rule-of-thumb – and there is no rule without exception. When using the camera on a tripod and focusing on a laptop display (un-matched for precision) or on a clas-sic, exchangeable ground glass as used for example with studio cameras, there are, in respect to usable focal length, no limits.

So klein und so leicht wie möglich und dabei voll integriert in die modulare ALPA-12-Plattform. Alle Objektive aus der ungewöhnlich umfangreichen Auswahl von 24 bis 250 mm Brenn-weite, alle digitalen Backs und sämtli-che Rollfilmkassetten bis zum Format 6x9, die auch an die ALPA 12 WA, die SWA und die XY passen, können mit der ALPA 12 TC (Travel Compact) uneingeschränkt verwendet werden. Wird die ALPA 12 TC aus freier Hand und mit dem ausserordentlich hellen 120°-ALPA-Sucher benützt, so erfolgt die Fokussierung durch einfache Abschätzung der richtigen Distanz. In dieser Weise verwendet, ist sie vor allem eine Weitwinkel-Kamera für Objektive im Brennweitenbereich von 24 bis ca. 75, max. 80 mm. Diese Limite ist als Regel zu verstehen, und es gibt bekanntlich keine Regel ohne Ausnahmen. Beim Einsatz ab Stativ und mit Fokussierung auf dem Display eines Laptops (an Präzision nicht zu überbieten) oder auf einer klassischen, auswechselbaren Mattscheibe wie bei einer Studio-Kamera gibt es punkto verwendbare Brennweiten grundsätz-lich keine Einschränkung.
