The AERO trade show in Friedrichshafen has grown over the years into the world‘s most important meeting place for the general aviation industry.

More than 33,000 trade visitors from 60 countries (63 percent of whom hold a pilot licence) and about 650 journalists will come to Friedrichshafen to find out about the latest developments in general aviation and to see the innovative products and services which more than 630 exhibitors from 38 countries will be presenting during the show.

The spectrum on display ranges from ultralights to heli-copters and business jets. Pilot supplies, avionics systems and the entire general aviation supply chain are also covered by AERO 2016.

With more than 150 workshops and lectures, the AERO Conferences are a key element of the AERO. High-calibre experts from FAA and EASA will be on hand to provide information about international certification standards and to answer visitors‘ questions. AERO Friedrichshafen is the event for discussing current topics and making decisions about the future development of general aviation.

In the Engine Area, powered by fliegermagazin, the latest propulsion technologies will be presented in a clear and compact manner. Whether it is evolutionary electric motors, the latest piston engines or powerful jet turbines, the Engine Area is an important hot spot, not just for aeronautical engineers. A series of accompanying lectures will include maintenance topics as well as the development of sustainable aviation fuels in the future.

NEW POSSIBILITIES THROUGHUNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, popularly known as drones, will be on display in the RPAS special area at AERO Friedrichshafen. As these systems share the same airspace with manned aircraft and can be used for similar missions, it stands to reason that these unmanned aircraft should be given a platform at AERO Friedrichshafen. The RPAS EXPO will receive extensive media support from the FliegerRevue. At the same time, the UAV DACH Conference will be held once again along with an indoor flying display.

The Aviation and Pilots Competence Centre, APCC, has proved a hot spot for pilots. It provides them with all the information they need about subjects like flying weather, licensing, aircraft certification and other important topics. And, of course, pilot supplies, ranging from pilot sunglasses to exclusive watches, are also available in the APCC.

Traditionally the meeting place for pilots and aircraft manufacturers, AERO Friedrichshafen has increasingly attracted trade visitors from the supply sector in the recent years. Representatives from these companies come to the show to discuss materials, supplies and production technologies with the exhibitors‘ design engineers.

Not only does this matchmaking opportunity provide a comprehensive overview of available innovative products and materials, it also saves both parties time and money.

Why are more and more helicopter manufacturers finding their way to Friedrichshafen? Is it because of the wide variety of mission opportunities in the nearby Alps or simply because of the perfect surroundings that AERO‘s central location in Europe is able to offer? In 2016, the AERO Conferences will be featuring the new Heli Forum where many aspects of rotary wing flight will be addressed in detail.

The Static Display area, located between Friedrichshafen Airport and Messe Friedrichshafen‘s most modern exhibition halls, has become the meeting place for the business aviation community. All those planning to fly to Friedrichshafen Airport between April 20 - 23, 2016 in their own plane to attend the AERO trade show will require a slot. From April 2016, you can book your fly-in slot online at https://aero-ppr.fly-away.de.

During the trade show, visitors arriving by ultralight aircraft or powered glider may use the nearby Markdorf gliderport without needing a slot or prior permission. A shuttle bus service will be available.
