Warming Up To Winter
in
Kindergarten Kindergarten have been learning about the seasons in Science. On Wednesday they had a themed Winter Day. They participated in all sorts of winter themed activities and celebrated all the good things about this chilly season. They made campfires from craft materials to toast marshmallows, listened to a winter story, made hot chocolate, artworks and even had a snowball fight! In the afternoon, Kindergarten presented an item about the seasons for assembly. Kindergarten are looking forward to winter!
Newsletter Week 4, Term 2
Relieving Principal
I am pleased to inform you that Lisa Noble will be taking the role of Relieving Principal during my long service leave. Lisa has sent an introduction below: Hello, my name is Lisa Noble and I would like to briefly introduce myself to the Parents, Carers and Community of Paterson Public School. I am very excited to relieve for Sarah-Jane while she is on leave this term and at the beginning of next term.
A little bit of information about myself, I have held a number of positions in the Department of Education, including Relieving Principal at Belmont Public School, Instructional Leader and Assistant Principal at Hillsborough PS and Windale PS.
I believe it is paramount to continually build and enhance relationships with the whole school community. You will always see me out in the playground with students, and, you may even see me playing a game of handball or even trying my luck in other games. I highly value opportunities to interact with families, as I believe we always need to work together. I welcome opportunities to talk, so please, when you are at school, come up and say hi.
I am really looking forward to meeting children, families and staff and continuing the quality of teaching and learning at Paterson Public School.
Election Day Cake Stall and BBQ
Our cake stall and BBQ was very well supported – we sold out of cakes just after 12! Many thanks to our volunteers, those who baked and donated cakes, slices, and biscuits and to the RFS for cooking the BBQ. We have very generous community donors who support us time after time, and yet again Paterson Butchers, Paterson IGA and the Paterson Tavern and Grandma Judy donated prizes for the raffle. Our cake stall made over $300 which will go towards the year 6 end of year gift to the school. Once again, please accept our appreciation for your support.
Year 6 Classroom Refurbishment
Today year 6 moved into the library to prepare for the classroom refurbishment that will start next week. Building work should take no more than 5 weeks. Our library program will continue in classrooms, with books taken to the classes for borrowing. Please continue to support your child to borrow by helping them remember to return their library books and library bags on the appropriate day.
University of Newcastle Student Teachers
For the last four weeks of term, we will welcome two student teachers from the University of Newcastle. Miss Ernst will work with Mr Pommer in year 6, and Miss Wilson will work with Mrs Halliday and 2/3. They will visit our school next week to meet the teachers and classes.
GRIP Student Leadership Day
Yesterday our student leaders attended the GRIP leadership day at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle. Thank you very much to
the parents who transported them to and from the venue, and to Mr Pommer for accompanying the excursion. Below is an
account from Mikayla:
On Thursday 23rd May the captains and house captains joined other schools in the GRIP Leadership Conference at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle. We learnt a series of information on how to be a good leader. It was really fun and educational for everyone. The day also included a lot of comedy which was extremely funny.
