4. Remove the capscrews holding the pump sections together.
5. While holding the pump in both hands, bump the drive shaft against a wood block to separate the pump sections.
6. Clamp the pump assembly in a vise with the shaft end up. Use a soft material on the vise jaws to protect the pump castings from being damaged.
7. Remove body (6) with attached parts.
8.INTERMEDIATE MODELS: Remove preload seal (10) and load seal (11) from body (6).
LATEST MODELS: Remove preload seal (10), load seal (11), wear plate (12) and seal ring (13) from body (6).
9. LATEST MODELS: Remove snap ring (4) and oil seal (5) from body (6).
'10. EARLIER MODELS: Remove backup plate (8) and plate and seal (9) from front cover (21).

16. Place chassis lubricant in the four detent ball holes in the pin and place the detent balls (47) in position (Fig. 23).
17. Install the detent sleeve (43), shallow bore facing out, into the detent cap (41) and secure with the snap ring (44). .
18. Tap the bronze filter (42) from the cap (41) to allow a metal rod to be placed through the cap (Fig. 24). Push the metal rod to move the ball (45) away from the four detent balls. Hold the rod steady in this position and move the cap over the four detent balls. Release the pressure on the rod, allowing the detent spring ball to move against the four detent balls, causing them to move outward into the cap to lock the assembly in place (Fig. 25). Spin the housing to be sure it is locked in place.
